At Sacred Mountain Ranch

  • Fire pits come pre-stocked with all the wood we need

  • The dark skies of Julian make for amazing views of the stars

  • Sacred Mountain Ranch is home to mutliple hiking trails

  • There is a pool onsite, if you can brave the cold water

  • There’s also a hot tub for those that prefer the warm water

  • Bring your pickleball gear and have a pre-wedding match!

  • Grills are located at most lodges on the property. Feel free to bring some food and use the grills as you wish

  • Find the Secret Garden, European Perfola, and more!

Around Julian

  • Julian is known for its famous pie rivalry between Julian Pie Co and Moms Pie House. Personally, Jason and I are Julian Pie Co fans but we recommend getting a slice from each and doing a taste test! Our favorites are Dutch Apple and Mountain Berry. We recommend always adding ice cream too.

  • There are tons of hiking trails surrounding Julian! Including a few recommendations below.

    Volcan Mountain Trail:

4.8-mile out-and-back trail generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 39 min to complete.

    Three Sisters Falls

4.1-mile out-and-back trail generally considered a moderately challenging route. You will be hiking down to the waterfall so please keep in mind how far you have to hike back up!

    Stonewall Mine and Lake Cuyamaca

3.2-mile loop trail, generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 h 6 min to complete.

  • There are several apple picking locations including Volcan Valley Apple Farm and Julian Farm & Orchard

  • Check out the Julian Hard Cider tasting room

  • We will be hosting the welcome party at Julian brewery on Friday night but feel free to check it out during the rest of your stay! They have great food, drinks and outdoor spaces.

  • This shop can get pretty crowded on a weekend but they have a ton of great snacks and local jams, honey, etc. It’s a great stop if you are looking to pick up something to remember your trip.

San Diego

  • This is one of our favorite spots in San Diego. Go for a walk throughout the park and make a pit stop at Panama 66 for a beer or some food. There are a ton of museums but make sure to also check out the international houses and Spanish Village.

San Diego Zoo is also right next to Balboa Park and well worth the visit if you have the time. It is pretty pricey but worth it if you spend enough time there. Great for kids and also fun for adults with special beers in each section of the Zoo based on the region the animals are from.

  • Pacific beach (also known as PB) is where we live- we are a few blocks from Sail Bay. The best way to see the area is to rent bikes and ride the strand from Law Street down to Mission Beach. Visit Woody’s for breakfast burritos or stop by Oscars Fish Tacos or Harry’s Taco Club for lunch / dinner. If you want to catch a sunset, head to Palisades Park.

If you want to rent any paddle boards or kayaks, you can go to Catamaran and take them out on Sail bay.

  • Check out La Jolla Cove to see the popular seals and/or snorkel. Grab lunch at Dukes in the cove and sit on the deck overlooking the ocean.

Hike Torrey Pines State Reserve - Park at the top and hike down to the beach. Head to Viewpoint Brewing Company after for some lunch.

  • Ocean beach has a ton of great breweries / restaurants - two of our favorite are OB Brewery and Wonderland. Both locations are great to go for sunset. Head to the roof of OB brewery for the best views.

Sunset Cliffs Park is just south of OB and a great place for sunset (no surprise). You can park and walk along the cliffs or bring a picnic and chairs and hang out on the rocks.

If you are traveling with pups, Ocean Beach is also home to River’s favorite dog beach. He will gladly show you around upon request.

  • Julie lived here for several years when she first moved to San Diego and still has some of our favorite bars and restaurants. If you are looking for a location to get dinner and walk around, this is the spot.

Coffee Shops: Communal Coffee, Holy Matcha, Holsem Coffee, Dark Horse Roasters

Lunch/Dinner: Poke One n Half, North Park Brewery, Mission Cafe, Tajima Ramen, Bahn Thai.

  • Liberty Station is made up of old military barracks that are now shops, restaurants, and a market. There is a popular poke shop called Hawaiian Fresh Seafood. There is also a fun mini golf course for kids!

  • Downtown can be tricky with parking but there are lots of great sights if you make your way down there. Check out Sea Port village, Midway Museum and East Village. You can also take a ferry over to Cornado Island.

  • Cornado Island is home to the famous Hotel Del Cornado. One of our favorite activities is renting bikes and biking the shore path that goes around the island. We’d recommend ending at Hotel Del for drinks / dinner.
